Susan G. Komen for the Cure
As the leader of the global breast cancer movement, we are taking ownership of the strides we've made and declaring our unwavering commitment to end this devastating disease. Our new name and logo leave no question about the only acceptable result of the work we do - we are Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The decision to change the organization's name is the result of significant research that showed an opportunity to extend our reach by linking the Komen name with our strongest assets - the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and series of "for the Cure" trademarks. Since starting the breast cancer movement 25 years ago, Susan G. Komen for the Cure has transformed the clinic and the culture - how the world talks about and treats this devastating disease - and helped turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors. By the end of 2007, Komen will have invested nearly $1 billion in breast cancer research and community outreach programs, becoming the world's largest source of nonprofit funds fighting the disease. And we are committed to invest another $1 billion in the next decade. It is Komen's promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale
Since 1954, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale have provided quality programs to Northeast Valley youth. In that time, more than 100,000 children and teens have been served. Today, more than 14,000 community youth ages 6 to 18 are currently members of the organization's seven branches and 12 outreach sites located in Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and other Northeast Valley neighborhoods. The Club offers more than 100 quality after-school and summer programs in a positive, safe, supervised environment. Programs offered at the Club are built around five core areas: character and leadership development; education and career development; health and life skills; the arts; and sports, fitness and recreation.
